Early memories with my father in the yard and garden began a passion for horticulture. The art of bonsai came into my life as my children presented one to me.

With the receiving of my first bonsai, the search was initiated for more information. It led to research involving reading, classes, and seminars with bonsai artists and masters. Along with other bonsai enthusiasts, I realize there is more to learn, absorb, and accomplish. Jan (my wife since 1952) and I enjoy tending our trees and meeting people in our full-service bonsai nursery. I have personally designed and potted each of our bonsai, and both of us maintain them while they are on display and available for sale. When a bonsai is ordered on our site, the same tree in the photo is sent...no duplicates. All of the trees displayed on this website are here at the nursery, we do not "drop ship" from other nurseries.

We teach quarterly Basic Bonsai classes where students learn to develop and care for their own. Bonsai enthusiasts can obtain supplies and nursery stock ("pre-bonsai") necessary to produce their individual designs. Hundreds of trees are in our nursery in preparation to become bonsai.
